Ayer Rajah Food Centre

On a lazy Sunday afternoon (29 Apr 12), we drove down to Ayer Rajah Food Centre in search of food.

Shenton Power
Mee Goreng   Rating: 3.5/5   Cost: $3.50
Habib's Rojah
Indian Rojah   Rating: 3.5/5   Cost: $8
Ayer Rajah has more Malay/Indian stores than most food centre in Singapore. This was in part due to the hawkers relocating from Shenton Way.

Joo Siah Bak Koot Teh
Loin Ribs   Rating: 3.5/5   Cost: $7.50
Had breakfast at Joo Siah Bak Koot Teh on the 29 Apr 12 at 8.30am. When we reached the Food Centre, they have already started selling. Ordered the loin ribs and waited a good 20 minutes before the food was served.

The loin ribs is their best selling item and it is usually sold out before 10am. Today, the ribs were a little tougher than usual but still very good.
Their broth is the Teochew peppery savoury version and it's refillable. You can buy You Tiao from the neighbouring stall to dip into the soup.

Hong Kong Day 8 - 13 Apr 12

Today was the final day of our trip and we spend the day just chilling out, relaxing and doing a fair bit of shopping. Since I did not take any photos of the places we visited, I'll just detail the food that we ate on that day.

Just want to add that we bought some titbits and such back to Singapore. The famous Low Po Peng or Wife Biscuits from Hang Heung Cake Shop. Problem with this purchase was that most of the pastries crumbled upon reaching Singapore and only the fillings remained. Could be because we checked it in with the luggage instead of hand carry.

One of our better buys is from Kee Wah. The pineapple shortcakes deserves a mention as they are individually packed and you can also purchased a beautifully designed aluminum can. We like the one with a salted egg center.

We also bought quite a few stuff from Koi Kei in Macau. Chewy walnut candy, almond  and walnut biscuits. As the walnut candy is individually packed, you can buy a big pack and distribute these in your office when you're back home. Do taste the samples before buying.
