Ramen Championship

Date visited: 27 May 12 Sunday

There has been a proliferation of Ramen shops in Singapore in the last couple of years. One of the more well know one is the Ramen Championship at the Iluma which opened in July 2011.

Since we have not visited the place, decided to drop by this place during lunch. Even at 12 noon on a Sunday, there was not much of a crowd. This could be attributed to the location.

There were a total of 6 ramen stores and after much deliberation, we decided to order from Bario and Tetsu.

From Barrio, we ordered the Char Shu Men.

It's huge and comes with lots of bean sprout, which my wife loves. The soup base is rather porky and we added about a tablespoon of garlic, which is free flow to the broth.

From Testsu, we ordered their specialty which is Tsukemen. Also added a side order of their All Star toppings.

You can opt for hot or cold noodles, only difference is that in hot like the picture above comes soaked in hot water. The dipping sauce is rather thick and fishy as it contains seafood, so do refrain from ordering this if you tend to shy away from anything fishy.

The total bill came to $40.15 inclusive of a drink and gst.

Overall, we rather like the ramen and the environment here and intend to visit again so as to try the other ramen stores.
